My Reflection during Usrah in Action 1: Community Profiling
Usrah in Action 1 has taught me informative knowledge on Sustainable Development Goals and Maqasid Shariah.
Through Usrah in Action 1, I was enlightened on the subject of Sustainable Development Goals. Although I had learned in the subject UNGS 1201: Sustainable Development Goals class during my first year of studies, it felt different because of online classes, whereas now I can observe the environment through offline sessions during Usrah in Action classes. Our first meeting was on October 29, 2022 by online meeting session through google meet. During class, we did taaruf among the students section 50 and 51. Also, learned about what we're going to do for our usrah in action throughout the semester. Lecturer in charge of our section was Dr. Nur Khamsiah, also called Madam Nur. She was a very kind and motherlike figure, because she treated us as her own daughter and son.
Then we moved on to the activity that we would be doing. "Food for the Soul" is the title of our section. It refers to any activity that can be beneficial to our lives but is not classified as a food that we need to survive. Following a discussion among classmates and the lecturer, we will be divided into four groups, the first of which will be the Motivation and Leadership group, followed by the Jawi group. The third group is Information Technology, and the fourth is DIY projects. We were divided into categories based on our personal interests and expertise. After deciding on a group, we had a discussion among the Jawi group about what kind of activities to create to capture our participants' interest in Jawi, and one of our ideas was to create a UNO game in Jawi. When Madam Nur heard that, she thought it was a brilliant and unique idea.
The main thing I learned from our first meeting, and many more to come, was that teamwork makes the dream work. To achieve our class goals of doing fun and enjoyable projects for our participants, we must discuss and share ideas with one another, as well as assist one another even if they are not in our group. Also, I learned that we need to have other skills alongside our studies in order to improve our skills and be useful to society in the future.
